How do you do Soft Girl Makeup
I absolutely love the soft girl makeup look, fresh, light, glowy, peachy, healthy, sporty, shimmery, what’s not to love.
It’s the look I did for Gioia Parijs (@gioiaparijs) (13) in her video clip and it’s what I did for my Beautiful niece Faya.
- Apply a sheer foundation with the 5 min method or a application for makeup artists.
For foundation, I used Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation in number S104L with the matching concealer. This is a dutch brand and I wanted to use this foundation because it has a little shimmer in it, it’s a glowy foundation.
Children like Faya and Gioia have Beautiful Skin, it doesn’t get any better than this.
They can have some blue shining true the skin under the eyes. I cover this with a touch of foundation, if blue still shinning true after this I use just a drop of concealer. I didn’t have to powder at this stage.
2. Create a natural brow.
I used soap brows, Faya is part Indonesian like me, we have Asian brows, unfortunately not bushy or feathery naturally, so I faux microblade her brows.
3. Dust lightly with a peachy eyeshadow. The best eyeshadow palette for Soft Girl Makeup is Too Faced Sweet Peach. Use colors “Just Peachy” and “Candied Peach”.
4. Make beautiful lashes. Just a few individual lashes( if necessary) and a little bit of mascara.
On to Faya’s Asian lashes, typical Asian lashes, tense to be pretty straight not curly, so I curled her lashes, not completely to my likings because curlers like the Tweezerman Every Lash Curler don’t sell in The Netherlands.
5. On to the glow, I used Mac Hyper Real Glow Palette powdered highlight. Looking back at my first photoshoot as a photographer, I will use a liquid highlighter next time.
6. Next is Blush.
Pure Light, Illuminating Powder of Delilah Cosmetics is actually a highlighter but I use it as a blush, or more like a blush and highlighter in one.
So I place it a little higher than a blush, on the apples of the cheeks and also applied under the brows, even a little on the lids.
7. For lips just some chapstick or Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
What is Soft Girl Makeup
Now that you know how to make this look, what is Soft Girl Makeup anyway? It is a super girly, soft applicated, feminine look, with a cute feeling to it. Think, peachy, pinky tones, glowy dewy skin, and flushed cheeks.
As a professional makeup artist, this may as well be one of my all-time favorite looks. Girls and women, from teenage to well over 40 could really put this off and look amazing.
This look is a great introduction to makeup for young girls. My daughter of 7 already loves makeup, but how could you as a mom start with love for makeup in an appropriate way? Sweet Mamita’s start with this soft girl makeup, this is why:
Makeup appropriate for Teenage Girls and Children
One of the jobs I do weekly for 4 years now is a tv-show for Children. The tv-host are adults but a lot of our guests are YouTubers, teenage singers, or teenage “celebrities” (famous among children in my country).
Therefore I do a lot of Makeup appropriate for Teenagers and children. As a professional Makeup Artist is it my responsibility to set the correct example for Makeup to the children watching this show on national television.
Rule number one and this in my opinion is very important, I take it extremely seriously: Do NOT sexualize children and teenagers with makeup in any way, for obvious reasons!
Meaning: NO shading of the eyes with eyeshadow. NO red lips or heavy lip makeup and gloss. NO big winged eyeliners. NO whole false lashes or heavy mascara!
Rule number two: Do NOT promote the Beauty standards of having to be thin on children and teenagers. Meaning: NO shading whatsoever (cheeks, nose, jawline, etc)
Rule number three: NO mattified skin: Meaning NO baking or heavy use of powder (skin produces sebum and is not matte naturally)
Lastly, I don’t promote obvious makeup to children in general, so NO obvious eyeshadow colors blue, green, purple, red, etc.
Even though these are bright colors and not dark or shading, it promotes wearing makeup.
If a child sees their idol (like their favorite singer from the Voice Kids or a YouTuber who vlogs daily) on their favorite weekly TV show with bright blue eyeshadow, big chances are they want to wear bright blue eyeshadow to school too and classmates would want to follow and boom, you have set a standard on children.
Even if parents don’t allow this, they could sneak in blue eyeshadow and makeup wipes to school and parents have no clue.
For those who are wondering why putting Beauty Standards on children (or anyone for that matter) is not good please read these statements of an inspiring makeup artist HERE.
What you should do is Promote Health, Youth, and Natural Beauty with Soft Girl Makeup
Let me get into that a bit more and tell you what you CAN do and why.
If you run around the park or playground you get flushed cheeks and shiny skin. Translate this to makeup and you will get Blush and Highlighter, yayyyyy these happen to be favorites of mine.
Lips get more blood flow (running around a playground) so just a subtle stained lip is accountable only when it’s needed, meaning if your model doesn’t have blood flow on the lips making them look pale.
Kids don’t have groomed, plugged eyebrows, so YES please to bushy feathered brows, with Soap Brows or Freeze Brows (Anastacia Beverly Hills) for example.
Shiny skin from running around the park translates to Glowy foundation, yay another favorite.
Natural Healthy blood-flown skin colors translate to peach, pinky, shimmer on brows, eyelids, cheeks, and nose.
Lashes with just a touch of mascara or just a few individual lashes only if needed. In some rare cases connect lashes with a thin or dotted eyeliner and that’s it.
