Classic Black Smokey Eyes
For me, the ultimate way to make a Smokey Eye is with Kohl, with this technique you can also create a smokey Eyeliner.
Let’s get into it, first of all, you need a soft kohl pencil, one that is quite oily because you’re going to blend it all over the eyes, make sure you use a good amount of kohl.
Start with both inner rims and an upper eyeliner and a line under the eye, connect them, so the whole eye is framed with black.
You can do different shapes, like a cat-eye shape, but the classic version is round if you’d ask me.
Now that you have the eyes framed with black around, you start making your shape, I like to just draw it on with the pencil.
This could be quite hard, you can also apply some kohl on your hand and take it off with a brush and then make the shape.
I make the whole moving eyelid black, in the crease, I start blending upwards and blend all edges till it fades away into the skin.
Don’t forget to blend the line you created under the eyes. It is very important that you blend all the edges until it disappears into the skin so there are no hard lines anywhere on the eyes.
I think this makes a good smokey eye. If you don’t do this it may seem you made two big black spots don’t make panda eyes.
Really take your time to blend it all out well. A difficulty with this could be your makeup will reach up too high, keep it small, don’t blend it out too wide
If you got the shape you want, all blended out, get black powder eyeshadow and fixate the kohl, you can not skip this step, it is very important.
If you won’t fixate your kohl with powder the sebum in the skin will make your kohl go all over the place causing a disaster.
Really press in the powder absorbing the kohl completely. This could give you hard lines where you just spend so much time on blending, so again blend that area some more.
The amount of kohl should absorb the amount of powder it needs to fixate, so blend off the excessive black powder well by blending it with a blending brush, use a clean blending brush if needed.
Now you have a perfect smokey eye, you could leave it like this, but I still like to give the whole eye an eyeliner, just to really intensify it.
Because your eye is so black now, a good fake lash will go well. With a strong eye like this, I like to keep the lip nude/natural.
There you have it. The Perfect Smokey Eye.
Here is a video by Ali Andreea, showing us a Smokey Eye. I actually couldn’t find Smokey Eye videos, with the method I just talked about.
Everyone seems to blend out the kohl with eyeshadow already on the brush, which also is a good way, there are no rules for makeup whatever works well.
In this post, you have learned how to create a Smokey eye with kohl and eyeshadow. Cheers Mamitas.
